Most Anticipated Releases: Now – May

Priory of the Orange Tree – February 26

Samantha Shannon, author of The Bone Season, is releasing a high fantasy novel. It features both magic AND dragons. Do I need to say more? I am looking forward to this novel because I greatly enjoyed the first three books of The Bone Season. I enjoyed the world building, getting to know all about London and the way it worked, As a high fantasy novel, I am sure that there will be quite a bit of information and world building that we need to have in order to understand to throughly enjoy this novel.

Four Dead Queens – February 26

Four Dead Queens is Astrid Scholte’s debut novel. I have heard so many wonderful comments about this novel by people on Twitter who have been fortunate to receive an ARC. From what I’ve heard, this fantasy is one that must be picked up.

Shades of Magic Volume 1: The Steel Prince – March 5

Technically, these graphic novels have already been released, However, they are only sold in comic stores and difficult to find. On March 5, Shades of Magic #1 – 4 are being released together. These graphic novels focus around Maxim, Red London’s king, before the storyline of the The Darker Shade of Magic series. I LOVED this series. The Darker Shade of Magic trilogy is among my favorite books, maybe even my favorite. Actually, anything written by V.E Schwab is just amazing!

The Near Witch – March 12

Who would’ve known? Another V.E. Schwab novel. As I was saying, I love all of her novels. I think that she is an amazing writer and it definitely shows in her novels.

The Red Scrolls of Magic – April 9

If V.E. Schwab is my favorite author, Cassandra Clare is a very close second. I fell in love with the Shadowhunter world from the beginning. Another series set in that world? Yes please! While I am not emotionally ready yet to read Queen of Air and Darkness, I know that I am going to fall in love with this series as I have with the previous three.

King of Fools – April 30

The journey continues in the sequel to Ace of Shades. I love these characters. From Enne, an innocent girl that had no clue what New Reynes held in store to her, to Levi Glaisyer, one of the most infamous con mans, this novel has it all. I am interested in seeing how their partnership continues to evolve in King of Fools.

Aurora Rising – May 7

From the co-authors of the Illuminae Files, comes Aurora Rising. Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman team up again in this new science fiction series.

Kingsbane – May 21

Kingsbane is another sequel that I am highly anticipating. Written in two different perspectives 1,020 years apart, I enjoyed how she was able to keep it from getting confusing. I am interested to see how she continues to connect these two very different women in a world that is already very fascinating.

Dev1at3 – May 28

Deviate is the second novel of the Lifel1k3 series. I enjoyed Jay Kristoff’s writing in the Illuminae trilogy and it continued to impress me in the first book. Can I say that my favorite thing in this series is the sassy robot? Haha.

      1. It is around that yes. I’m not very good at putting a book down to go on to another and then go back to it so I think I’ll have to read it all at once, I’m a little worried but it does sound quite fast paced at the same time

  1. Omg every single one of these books are on my highly anticipated list for this year!! I am so excited about Priory, everyone has said it’s amazing, I’ve heard only good things so far. And yes please to more Schwab and Cassie Clare (if I read Shadowhunter books until I’m old and gray I’ll die happy). Great post!!!

  2. YES to all of these! The Priory of the Orange Tree is my most anticipated and I’m counting down the days until it’s released (9 days to go!!) Anything V.E. Schwab does is just amazing and so I’m not surprised to see her on this list. Same goes for Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman – I am so, so excited for Aurora Rising! 2019 is going to be an amazing year for book releases.
