May TBR

March was an off month for me. I was only able to finish 6 books last month despite my annual average of 8 books/month. This month, I am planning to read as much as I can and pick up the books I am most excited about. I plan to read two more of my Book of the Month selections as I am very excited over the selections I’ve made over the past few months.

1. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things

I selected this book as an add-on for my Book of the Month box in January. I have already started reading as of the time this post goes live. I know there are some concerns over the mature content of the book, causing me to be careful as I continue through the novel. I think the fact that this was chosen as the 2016 book of the year by BOTM users sold me on buying this book.

2. The Age of Light by Whitney Scharer

Every time I read a historical fiction, deviating from fantasy novels, I am surprised. I don’t know why I don’t expect it when initially pick up the book. You would think I would learn by now. In 2019, I have been paying attention to this trend. Every historical novel that I’ve read this year has been great and I do not believe this book will be any different.

3. Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare

30295312

Cassandra Clare is one of only two authors that I consider an auto-buy when a new novel of theirs is published. The only other is V.E. Schwab. This is book one of a new Shadowhunter series following Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. Many people would agree that Magnus is their favorite Warlock in the Shadowhunter realm.

4. The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab

I own every book by V.E. Schwab. I am very excited to have the chance to read one of her very first books to be published. While I own the regular cover of this novel, I am very tempted to buy the Barnes and Noble edition only to have both editions on my bookshelves.

5. Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

40367270

I selected this book as an add-on to an earlier BOTM box this year. I have heard many good things about this fantasy and I am very excited to start it. Reviews have said that this murder mystery is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

6. Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan

36118682

Wicked Saints is currently heading in my direction after winning a Twitter giveaway. I am so excited that I was so lucky to win this book. This book is one of my most highly anticipated books, as it was with many others in the YA community. I have heard of it described as a gothic fantasy.

7. Iron Gold by Pierce Brown

33257757

OK. I JUST FINISHED THE RED RISING TRILOGY AND IT WAS AMAZING!!! Apparently this book happens ten years in the future and I am fascinated how their new world has shaped. Is it how Darrow and the Sons of Ares imagined it to be? Or did it go back to the way it was? Iron Gold moved up on my TBR list after the ending of The Morning Star. WHAT AN ENDING!!

8. Normal People by Sally Rooney

41057294

Normal People was my BOTM selection for April. When I found out that it was an option to choose, I was very excited. Since I was unable to read it in April, it will definitely be read in May. Hopefully. I always say that, but then choose ten other books first.

9. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

42201431

One of my favorite Booktubers is Gabby over at GabbyReads. Fun fact, she was the one who introduced me to Book of the Month. Gabby was lucky to receive an ARC of this book and she loved it. I have read a few books based on her recommendation, such as Verity by Colleen Hoover, and I have not been disappointed yet. I am not a huge fan of Romance novels, but I am curious to see if I will enjoy this book.
