Library Haul

Hello! Today I thought I would do something a little different by showing you the books I currently have checked out from the library. Let you know why these particular titles interested me and hold myself accountable to read them in a timely fashion.

1. Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

I have heard so many good things about this book! If you have kept up with the young adult book community, I’m sure you have heard of this book at least a dozen times. The first in a series, Truly Devious is a mystery/thriller novel set around a Vermont academy, where a mysterious cold case took place decades before. I am looking forward to following the main character around as she navigates the complexities of a new school and the mysterious clues left behind, in an attempt to solve the mystery. 2019 Reading Goals

Read 75 Books

  • I have currently read 14 books this year. According to Goodreads, I am 4 books ahead of schedule.
  • Avoid long reading slumps. Those are never fun.
  • I was only able to read 34 books last year.
  • Make sure as I try to achieve this goal, reading is still enjoyable and does not feel more like a requirement.

Post Consistently

  • Try to post every 2 or 3 days consistently.
  • Post quality content.
  • As this is a newer blog, be responsible about posting book reviews in order to have deeper discussions about books I like/dislike.
  • Make sure to tweet out new posts to increase potential audience.

Getting to Know Me – Book Blog Tag + Giveaway

Books:

Can you stop reading at any time, or does it have to be a certain page or chapter?

Beginning of a chapter. I’ll also stop if there are breaks throughout the chapter.

Do you eat or drink anything while reading?

No eating. Sometimes I will have a tea or soda next to me.

Can you read listening to music or watching TV?

No. Too distracting for me.

One book at a time, or several at once?

I like to read one book at a time. Easier to keep track and remember the story. Continue reading “Getting to Know Me – Book Blog Tag + Giveaway”

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Title: Verity

Author: Colleen Hoover

# of Pages: 314

Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I would label Verity as an adult romantic thriller. The book follows Lowen, a struggling writer who is given a huge break when she meets Jeremy. Jeremy is the husband of the famous author Verity, who is unable to finish her popular series due to injuries resulting from a car accident. When Lowen scours Verity’s office to find information that she needs in order to start the remaining novels, she comes across this hidden manuscript. This manuscript, meant to be seen only by Verity, reveals heartwrenching admissions about tragedies that the family has endured.

Most Anticipated Releases: Now – May

Priory of the Orange Tree – February 26

Samantha Shannon, author of The Bone Season, is releasing a high fantasy novel. It features both magic AND dragons. Do I need to say more? I am looking forward to this novel because I greatly enjoyed the first three books of The Bone Season. I enjoyed the world building, getting to know all about London and the way it worked, As a high fantasy novel, I am sure that there will be quite a bit of information and world building that we need to have in order to understand to throughly enjoy this novel.
