Jules Ember was raised hearing legends of the ancient magic of the wicked Alchemist and the good Sorceress. But she has just learned the truth: She is the Alchemist, and Caro—a woman who single-handedly murdered the Queen and Jules’s first love, Roan, in cold blood—is the Sorceress.

The whole kingdom believes that Jules is responsible for the murders, and a hefty bounty has been placed on her head. And Caro is intent on destroying Jules, who stole her heart twelve lifetimes ago. Everless by Sara Holland

Title: Everless

Author: Sara Holland

# of Pages: 36232320661

In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever.

But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate—and the fate of time itself.

Book of the Month Book Haul

Hey guys! I am excited to announce that I am now a Book of the Month affiliate. I will start doing a monthly haul to share my book selections. I will continue to attempt to read at least one BOTM selection, whether the current one or one from a past month.

November is a very busy month for new releases, as everyone can attest. Especially November 5th. Due to that, I chose to have two books in my BOTM box.

1. The Great Pretender: The Undercover Mission That Changed Our Understanding of Madness by Susannah Cahalan

IMG_7104Surprisingly, I have already read this book. This is a narrative nonfiction surrounding the famous study of David Rosenhan’s titled “On Being Sane in Insane Places.” Published in 1973, it had an essential impact on the changes we made to treat mental illness. While it moved the psychiatric system away from the problem of asylums, it led to the current problem we have of the lack of psychiatric beds to treat individuals.

2. The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

IMG_6468This book, written by Kiersten White, is a new young adult fantasy series surrounding the legend of King Arthur. For more information, including a synopsis, check out it’s Goodreads page here.

What books did you get in your November Box. Don’t forget, I am an affiliate and you can get your first book for only $5. Check out my referral link here.

October Wrap – Up

I’m going to keep this post short and sweet as I am already behind in posting it. As you can see, October was not the best reading month for me. I am only 7 books away from my Goodreads reading challenge of 75 books for the year so I am hoping to reach my goal by the end of November.

A very late November TBR coming your way. To be honest, I have no clue why I take the time to make a TBR list when I never follow it. I am such a mood reader. I take too much time deciding which my next read should be. This list was compiled keeping in mind the reading goals I had made earlier in the year.

Book Review | Devil’s Thief

Title: The Devil’s Thief

38336563

Author: Lisa Maxwell

# of Pages: 700

Synopsis (From Goodreads):

Hunt the Stones.
Beware the Thief.
Avenge the Past.

Esta’s parents were murdered. Her life was stolen. And everything she knew about magic was a lie. She thought the Book of Mysteries held the key to freeing the Mageus from the Order’s grasp, but the danger within its pages was greater than she ever imagined.

Now the Book’s furious power lives inside Harte. If he can’t control it, it will rip apart the world to get its revenge, and it will use Esta to do it.

To bind the power, Esta and Harte must track down four elemental stones scattered across the continent. But the world outside the city is like nothing they expected. There are Mageus beyond the Brink not willing to live in the shadows—and the Order isn’t alone in its mission to crush them.

In St. Louis, the extravagant World’s Fair hides the first stone, but an old enemy is out for revenge and a new enemy is emerging. And back in New York, Viola and Jianyu must defeat a traitor in a city on the verge of chaos.

As past and future collide, time is running out to rewrite history—even for a time-traveling thief.

Goodreads TBR Challenge

My Goodreads TBR list is an overwhelming mess. To organize and control it, I decided to make up my own challenge which I am going to refer to as the ‘Goodreads TBR’ challenge.

These are the steps I took in order to make the following list;

1. Eliminate all books that you DO NOT own.

2. Set aside books that coincide with your monthly and yearly reading goals.
For me, I set apart books that fit within these goals;
– Read 1 Book from my Book of the Month selections a month. (Annual goal)
– 1 Reread chosen from books I read 1+ years ago per month. (Annual goal)
– Catching up on my unread V.E. Schwab books. (April goal)
